After months of trying to get insurance on my ambulance I think it is finally done. For some reason all my insurance contacts get scared away when I mention I have an ambulance. It's just a freaking vintage classic ambulance.
A company called Safeco appears to be willing to cover it for the state required amount for Florida for $40.91 every six months. I can live with that. Waiting on the binder then off to the DMV for tags.

I don't get it... Just tell them it's a customized cadillac... Do they think your going to rescue lives with it? lol

I don't get it either - can't you get it listed as a collectible vehicle? I think here in mn anything over 30 years old qualifies for collectible status.

It is considered a vintage Cadillac but when they find out it is an ambulance, they lose their minds. For some reason that turns them off. I'll keep trying. I cannot not tell them it is an ambulance since it is titled as such.

Finally I got insurance on it and went immediately to the DMV for plates. They almost did not do it because the vin number was not readable sinc eit somehow slipped deeper into the dash. But, with a little sweet talk and her being a car girl, she did it for me. I also got personal plates for it. How's this: LIFELNR

Since I really have no place to store my ambulance and with the height of it at over 8 feet it makes it impossible to put in a regular garage. My wife bought me this garage system from Sam's Club and seems to be working out just fine. At least it keeps it out of the sun and it is in my backyard so I can keep an eye on it.
