Hi, All
Apologies if this is inappropriate or if I have posted in the wrong place, but I could do with some local's advice. I'm an Englishman currently living in London and I really want to come to the states and do a little snowmobiling in the Yellowstone park around Christmas time with my girlfriend. She's from Atlanta but has never been up North and never snowmobiled.
I've looked online and there are loads of companies that seem to be offering deals over a few days, but the prices are high! Even with the nice (for me) exchange rate, they're still plenty expensive.
What I'd like to do is hire a machine between me and my girlfriend, and ride for 4 days. I'd like to stay in different places each night and perhaps do a circular route that takes in Yellowstone for say 2 or 3 days. I'd like it to feel like a journey rather than just stay in one place and come back to it at night.
Does anyone know a way we could do that ourselves? And know anywhere good to stay and hire machines?
I know I need a four-stroke machine in the park, but do I also need a guide?
If you feel I should use an organised tour company, does anyone have any recommendations?
Sorry for the barrage of questions, but I reckon if I ask one of the tour operators they could just tell me what they want me to hear, and I'll never know the difference.
Any advice is very gratefully received!
Thanks
