I'm using a 2006 AC 380 touring and it runs poorly. Sometimes it will die when I hit the throttle and I have to work the throttle to get it going. It has to be absolutely up to operating temp before it will run under throttle. I am at 3,500', could this be high enough to need rejetting?

Thanks

could be,,,, have you cleaned the carbs real good lately?? to me it seems your choke circuit is plugged not allowing the fuel at low end while you are warming up.

I haven't done anything to this machine, I've only ridden it once. It is 1 year old with 500 miles on it. I am caretaking a remote lodge in the Wrangles in AK and the machine came with the package. I'm having a new jet brought in on my next resupply flight. When taking off from idle I sometimes need to quikly work the throttle a few times to keep it from dying. If anybody has any other ideas I'd apreciate the help as getting it to a mechanic is not possible.

It's also possible that it has something to do with your throttle safety system. you can temporarly disable it by unplugging the 3 prong connector that should be near where the steering comumn goes into the sled. If the problem goes away, you need to look at the safety system closer.

Regarding the jetting, temperature as well as altitude affects what jets you should be using. usually theres a chart on your clutch cover.

Thanks, I'll try the sensor check. Is it possible old fuel would cause these symptoms? I think the gas was fresh from this summer but I'm not sure.

old fuel and the carb being gunked up is probably the problem. have you ever cleaned a carb?? you should only have one, so thats half the work. Simply taking it apart and cleaning it good with carb cleaner,,,, then pull the old fuel out and put in some fresh and I would bet your good to go.

Thanks, if the new jet doesn't cure it I'll take the carb apart. I've got to get this thing fixed, I'll be spending the winter by myself here and trapping up tp 40 miles away. I've got to have a machine I can trust.

After running it awhile with the new jet the plugs look good now. I pulled the carb and everything is perfectly clean, not the tiniest bit of varnish, floats slide perfectly, the needle that the floats actuate moves freely. I don't have any carb cleaner. Is there anywhere in particular in the carb that I should check?
