does anyone know any ways to pull even just the smallest amount of extra power out of a 96 mxz 670 and would it be alright to water skip. i want to know info like how much horse power a stock setup would have. its also got 144 studs will that drag in the water.

Short skips at a high rate of speed you will be ok, but I would not recomend it. Your biggest draw back is the small 3/4" track, you don't have enough paddle to keep you going. Just remember where the kill switch is, if you sink it, kill it before it goes under. I do it all the time on my 800, but I have alot more power and a 1.25" track.

its track is 1.5"

You should be ok then, notice I said should, just don't let off.
