I just got this sled for my son and it will start right up (1st/2nd) pull, the machine has a primer and I don't even really need it to start it. However, after allowing the machine to warm up, it will not go, it sounds like it is starving for fuel and in fact if I push the primer in, a second later the thing will take off for about 5' then want to die again. If I let it stall (which I can prevent with the primer) the plugs are wet (Too much fuel)...I plan to check the fuel pump pressure (not sure what it should be). Also, when I pull the plugs one is wetter than the other. The compression is 125 in each cylinder and based on how quickly it starts I think that is fine. I was planning to start with the fuel filter and work to the, pump, carbs, etc. The owners manual points you to the dealer...

Once the plugs are wet, the machine will not start but if I dry them off...it starts right up 1st pull.

Also thought about a new set of plugs?

The part that is throwing me a bit, is the "Wet Plugs" when it seems like it is straving for gas...

In my opinion, with it only running for such a short time I would not be concerned with the plugs and how they look. You are not cleaning the plug off by running it long enough. I would guess it is a fuel problem, As in dirty carbs, bad fuel pick-up in tank, or even bad lines somwhere causing vacume leak.

PS. is this a dual or single carb setup ?

Thanks for the feedback...I think I got it...I took the carbs off and found that the main jets were 90% plugged, the problem became real clear...cleaned them out with a carb cleaner on all the jets, floats, etc...This 380 is a twin and has two carbs, they were easy to get off and on the sled...time to ride.

MXZ 550, I am not sure if this is the same problem, but it looks like some junk got in the gas and ended up in the bowl and the main jet, hope this helps.

All carbs should be cleaned every year before riding, it only takes about an hour or less, good insurance to do it
