My uncle and i just bought an 80 liquifire, and we went through our routine of cleaning the carbs and putting in new coolant. And it will only start with ether but wont run, it will just run off the ether. Are there any common problems that i should know about with mikuni sliders?

If you put a little gas in the spark plug holes does it run? How old is the gas?

gas is brand new. and it will only stay running until the ether burns up or the gas burns up in the cylinders.

If it runs only on the fuel you put in the cylinder than you have a fuel problem. You said you cleaned the carbs so they should be fine even though the needle and seat might need changing. I would check the fuel pump. Its probably a good idea to replace it anyways as they are not very expensive and you will know that it is ok.Check the pulse line to the fuel pump maybe even replace it.Is the fuel pump getting fuel from the tank?Sometimes the line in the tank gets plugged so check that fuel exits tank.
