My 98 670 formula Z, Started hearing noise, brought it to the dealer and found out the crank bearings are broken, Luckly i stoped when i did. Is this normal at 7000km? Did i not store it properly. The total job is going to run me 470$ for a new crank complete + mine. And 100$ for gaskets and 6 to 10 hours of labour at 50$/ hour. Im looking at $1000.00 in total.
What do i have to do to prevent this from happening on future machines. *Also thinking of getting the new 440mxz Xteam sled. What do you think of it and is it good for long rides or just messing around.
Thanks in advance..

Let me guess, PTO side was shot at 2500 to 3000 miles. *Seems like everyone is haveing problems with bearings lately. *Need to sell before 2500 miles or get ready to spend 300 to fix it yourself. *I'm in the process of fixing two sleds right now.
My dealer told me to drill the oil holes out bigger but I dont think this will help. *I'm going to pack them with grease and sell the sled before I put another 2500 miles on it. *Good luck.
While you have it apart you might as well put in the 501 valve and short intake boots. *Time the valve at 146-76

Well got my sled back. The total cost was 1100$, The sled runs so smooth now purs like a kitten. The mechanic showed me my old crank and the bearing on the clutch side just fell off 2 of the other bearings were soon on their way as well. they also packed the bearings with some special grease, changed some clips on the connecting rod or piston, and richened my oil consumption. Overall very happy with the service. *Labour was 375$ crank was 498$ the rest was little parts and tax. *Now i have a full 1 year warrenty.
