hello all.i have a 95 zr 580 carb over at a shop getting new motor mounts installed and the carbs redone.i just found out that the chassis is a zrt and someone threw this motor in and messed with the motor mounts and welded the torque arm to try to get it to work.when i bought it 2 years ago i knew none of this and the guy told me the bogging was the carbs.i knew and could visually see last year that the motor wasnt perfectly straight and the torque arm looked welded and obviously didnt do its job to keep the motor pushed forward.as far as the motor mounts the shop can do that no problem but the shop told me i need to find a zr580 torque arm off a chassis which is riveted and might be also bolted in place.arctic cat doesnt sell torque arms and finding one seems to be slim to none.the shop parts out sleds but said they dont have one and they will try to find one but told me i need to look on ebay and call around,i have had no luck.i asked him if he could strengthen the zrt torque arm or make it work but he said he needed a zr 580 one.so i am at the point on what to do and it seems my sled is just sitting there going nowhere when i was riding it out on the lake before i took it in.the shop even asked me if i was handy enough to buy a used chassis and swap everything myself.i felt like saying if i could i wouldnt have brought it to you.because of the motor mount/belt tension from 25 to full speed the sled ran super strong so its not like i brought the shop a broken down sled.thanks to any suggestions hopefully soon as i need to call them today and tell them i cant find a torque arm myself.id like to get this back and start riding again soon.

depending on were you live, i have a zr 580 complete sled real nice shape but the engine needs a piston and has a hole in top case. it would be a drop engine in and go, thats how nice this sled is.

hi fastkat, thanks for the offer but i didnt need another sled.i called the shop today and one of the salvage places they use luckily had a zr580 torque arm and they already shipped it to the shop so i am good to go.

i got the sled back.i am very dissapointed.maybe i should have looked it over before i paid $460.00 but i didnt and will never make that mistake ever again.the torque arm was fabbed/welded in place with some kind of rubber bushing(looks good but the way it was done was like something i did drunk im my garage by myself) and being that they welded it in the place they did the carburetor sits sideways and can never be turned back normal because it hits the torque arm.the carbs were supposedly gone through and i was charged 1.5 hours labor at $65.00 per hour but the carbs are not much better than when i took it in and definitely not right and worse then when i bought the sled originally.the sled still bogs but at very low speeds and is seems that i just threw out $460.00 because nothing was really fixed right,i would have been better off just still riding it and put the $460.00 into something else,i cant believe these shops can have the nerve to call you and say your sleds ready to be picked up and charge that money for a dishonest hack job.what would you guys do if this happened to you,i am curious, thanks.
