Hi I am looking at buying my first sled. I have spent many years building and riding Race Atvs so I am familiar with powersports but snowmobiles are a bit new to me.

I am looking at a 2001 ZR 600 EFI with reverse. Are there any model particular problems to keep an out out for?

The sled has an aftermarket pipe, I do not know what brand. Is an efi programmer or chip required to accommodate for the pipe? If a programmer or chip is installed is it going to effect the ignition timing enough to require higher octane fuel, or would this depend on the model?

That should be a real nice sled for ya!! reverse is nice feature to have!! aftermarket mufflers, ( cans) don't really do anything to efi,, however a whole exhaust system might.. i would try and find out what pipe it has,, and see what they say about it, or just look at piston wash, and read the plugs, and try and test ride it before ya buy it,, premium fuel might be the ticket,, but cats stock don't require it.... nice tuff sled should be able to do almost all you ask of it... regards....

Thanks for the info. From my research the 01's had a sealed ECU and you cant add chips. Will have to see what type of pipe it is and how its been running.
