TallCool1 11-15-2002, 05:12 PM Just curious who uses what?? I use AOL...dial up at home, DSL at work. Have been on AOL for about 12 yrs. Was ready to switch about 5 yrs ago when they couldn't handle their growth...but they took care of that.
Are you happy w/your current provider? Have you ever switched?
BGTRK19472 11-15-2002, 05:20 PM dsl at work and home but still use aol with dsl at home, even though msn is free for some reason my wife likes aol. the good thing is that when you have dsl, aol only costs us 9.95 month.
Wolfman 11-15-2002, 06:27 PM I'm on a shared direcway satellite connection at home, and have a T3 gateway here at work. I would be in heaven If I could get the B/W at home that we have here at work.
skidoorev 11-16-2002, 11:41 AM Time Wrner Cable... never had a problem. Have AOL too that I use the "bring your own access" feature so I can use AOL on Cable so it's fast :)

Just checking my ability to quote.
Sled Dogg 11-16-2002, 11:19 PM Comcast cable. AOL sucks here in MI. They definetly can't handle there subcribers, I've never met a internet user that like aol for anything other than there messanger or becausre it's all that was avalible. I tried for 1 1/2 hours to get online through AOL one night with a cousins computer. My Broadband is always on once they got it all worked out. I even have three networked puters sharing a line and it flies.

Steven Hohman 11-17-2002, 12:49 AM Before my cable, I used AOL dial-up, which was the best d/u around my area, I was connecting at 52,200 bps consistenly but now that I have cable I am up to 2 kbs, even with 4 cpu's networked (again)
Bartman 11-17-2002, 08:50 AM Swiched to Adelphia cable, the best move I ever made, the phone lines in my area suck and I was using AOL which also sucks, now I can take full advantage of the net.
phazerhater 11-17-2002, 06:24 PM Tried AOL and hated it. I am now using Midcontinent which is Digital cable for my TV and Modem. Great service and speed through them.
ZR Sled Head 11-17-2002, 08:18 PM I started out with Cable from Rogers but dropped it after a year of nothing but excuses from them over its poor performance. Switched over to Bell Sympatico on my phone line and have never looked back. Works great with no issues, their customer service is fantastic.
Rick.
Team_Arctic 11-17-2002, 08:34 PM i had aol when i first started on the net now im on a local d/u
02MXZ600 11-17-2002, 09:52 PM Up at college we have cable. Works great and I would hate to go back to dial up. I can't think of life without cable. Oh, the speed. :)
XCR583 11-18-2002, 12:06 PM I have AOL dial up and have not had any problem getting on lately. Llike it was said a couple of years ago it was bad, but now it isnt that bad. If I want to download any videos or music, I go to school. SWRules
RockyMountain 11-18-2002, 03:28 PM I use a local provider called Spacestar which is only $12/mo. which is fairly reasonable and I have very little problems. A long time ago I had AOL which is a scam and has anybody tried to remove it from your computer. Well, my wife did it and their program attached itself to some non-related operating programs and took them down with it. :hallo1:
BGTRK19472 11-18-2002, 05:00 PM Ya thats the downfall of aol once you have it its very hard to get rid of it. same thing happened to us we tryed to un-install and poof!! 4 hours later we finnally had the thing back up. We ended up reinstalling aol along with our main opp system. Now my wife uses aol and when I get on i use msn with outlook. To me msn and outlook are far better for email and surfing.
highlandergerman 11-19-2002, 11:54 AM just use the loacal telephone company, they have been pretty good so far, they still have some issues to work out , but they are making head way.
performancex 11-19-2002, 04:19 PM Me, too. Local telephone company. For $10/mo., how can you go wrong? (Especially when your only other option is satellite @ $60/mo. + equipment.)
airplay 11-20-2002, 02:26 AM I've got Ameritech DSL at home and use Earthlink when I'm on the road (pilot for the airlines). Both are great when they are working, but if you need tech support you better have some time to sit on hold! I spent an hour on the phone the other day trying to get my dial up working!
