I have an arctic cat panther deluxe I believe to be a 1994 it has a 440 fan cooled Suzuki engine and has no spark can some one explain to me the method for testing the coil, CDI and Stator I am fairly mechanical and understand electricity I just need to know if I am looking for a short (ohms) or if it is output (DC Voltage) or if I am out in left field any info would be appreciated

I'll take a stab at it..... Has the sled been yours its whole life? I would start by making sure ignition switch is working, also kill switch is UP and working, also make sure your throttle return spring force is LETTING the sled start,, meaning that if that if there is not enough return spring force at the handle bar, the ignition is cut, and sled won't run,, it can be bypassed, however, or poss. unplugged,, I do not know how to check stator, coils, or cdi box,,,, usually those will last the life of sled.... good luck with this,,, let us know!!

Disconnect the engine from the kill switch circuit on the machine to make sure that what you're seeing is not an unwanted ground in the switches or wiring. Assuming you still don't have a spark, then unplug the wires coming out of the coil near the flywheel and check for resistance between them - the ones coming from the coil. They should show neither infinite nor zero resistances. If you're getting values somewhere in between, then it's likely that the coil(s) are functioning. It would be beneficial to look them up and compare them, but the problem is likely in another component. I am aware that the components 'Cat uses in the stators are known to give up over time and useage. It isn't expected, but it isn't unusual either.
