Ha-lo, I would like to buy a snowmobile from the mid to late nineties from Arctic Cat or Polaris (around 550-700 CC's). I would like a very reliable (not that any older snowmobile is problem free), quick/fast, and fun sled. Any model names? Polaris or Arctic Cat? What's one of the most reliable? Are tripples such as the ZRT's and XLT's really less reliable?
Are there any bigger CC Polaris's that aren't tripples? What do you think?
Thanks,
TJ

why are you only looking into Polaris and arctic cats? poos and yamaha had great sleds in the late 90's

True, they just all seem to be tripples, and I'm not entrely sold on tripples...yet. SRX's and V-Max's are sweet, how many problems have you had with your SRX?

honestly in my opinion yamaha is the most reliable, I can tell by the sleds that I am always fixin. yamahas never seem to have problems around here. as for a fast sled you will wanna look at AC I think they make the fastest and nicest ride but they seem to break down more often, and polaris well I don't know to many people with one so i don't have an opinion on them.

I had a 97 sx 700 and it was a darn good sled and very dependable and would run over 110 on the lake or field I finally sold it and the stator went out on the guy after he put 250 miles on it but other than that 5000 miles and the only thing I had to replace other than maintenance items was the fuel pump at 4000 miles

My 2000 SX600 has 18,000 miles on it with no rebuild on motor or any other parts. Just change the hyfaxes and keep it clean and lubed. It moves pretty good too. My 2001 SRX700 has 8000 miles with no rebuild and no problems whatsoever. You will hear a bunch of chatter about what is fastest but I have never been beat on my SRX. I paid $2000 for my SRX 2 years ago and clutched it, through on a bender can, and also added 192 studs to my camoplast carve track. Now, I won't ever see taillights. My 2001 Arctic Cat ZL800 is the closest to my SRX but still no match, but it is a great dependable sled also. Even though an SRX will basically spin the track up to about 60, you will not get beat by anything stock other than a 98 T-cat(haven't seen one of these in a long time). Lastly, my 1991 Mach 1 with the 617 twin is a blast to ride and rips close to 100.(bought this for about 800 and added cosmetics and stuff...9200 miles). Never been a big polaris fan(just don't like the looks of the late 90's etc) but you can find a few nice ones too. Good luck.

Well my self i have a bone dry stock arctic cat f7 that i took to the winter games and it waxed every sled that i raced including quite a few srx 700 and including my buddies that has alot of performance shit on it. nothing against them they are pretty snappy sled. But triple the trouble when you buy a triple. But when they run they run pretty hard.
And the 1999 zl and zr 600 are a pretty hard running sled too.

Don't waste your money on a 90's sled.
Get a 2003-05 Cat f7.
Fast, reliable.
