Im putting a 350 small block in my el tigre and need to know what type of adaptor or where I could find one to adapt from the flywheel of the small block to the clutch drive/drive belt on the sled?
Any suggestions let me know

woah... lol?

I think you are on your own here my man, are you not able to spline a shaft off of your fly wheel? and maybe weld it on there?

either way, the crazy things hicks do :P can you upload some pics? i really wanna see this... even if the motor is just sitting in the pan

Easy big fella!! I just ain't seen no V-8's on the trails lately..... not saying it would be a bad thing:mellow: and i don't doubt ya know what your doing,,, and yes if the trail. er lake is a long one, you may win..... but don't talk to me or us about smokin ANYTHING on a trail through the woods, or some ditch bangin, with a tank like that........

If you have all this knowledge that you speek of you should have a clue and some common sense where to start.

Your talking custom made stuff theres no kit for this "to my knowledge" And you dont want some booger welded metal abortion flying off and killng someone, when it fails.

My best bet would be to use a flex plate so you can retain the starter and not run into engine balancing problems, " I dont know anything about sbc stuff." A hub that bolts over your flex plate that has a shaft that will accapt a snowmobile clutch. But your going to have to talk to machine shops someplace with a mill/lathe willing to work with you

Even if you get this thing together your dealing with snowmobile drive parts that arnt up to the task of the power you will be throwing at it. Not to mention all custom clutches because most likely you will never get your sbc running even close the the rpm of a 2 stroke.

OK MAN :wallbash:

wow....take two ridilen and check back in the morning.....but seriously man calm down....I think that even if you got it to bolt up some how, you would be breaking everything else on the sled...snowmobiles (espically an older el tigre was not made for over 300 horse....or torque for that matter....plus all the added weight will probobly destroy your front end...but what do I know, prove me wrong..i'd love to see it if it works...

Good luck with your project. Those kinds of things can be fun even if just for the novelty. I helped a guy put a big motorcycle engine into a sled, and he had to custom machine a connection piece for the clutch to attach. Even with that motor, he ended up breaking belts constantly and never got it set up good enough to even do 2 quarter mile runs in a row.

With the 350, I would think you might need to strengthen the bulkhead, of course redo the suspension, probably both front and back, and like mentioned above, radical clutch work.

I don't get it.
My ElTigre has a 400 with a pretty small block, why would you want to down grade?
LMFAO.

Seriously, post some pics!

If you are really putting a 350CI (not cc 8vo Fan! :) ), you are going to have to do alot of custom fabrication.

I really wouldn't try to use the belt and clutch system. My Arctic Cat engages the belt at around 4000 RPM - I run down the trails at 5-6K. You'd blow up a V-8 in short order doing that.

My uncle put a motorcycle engine in a snomobile. But he retained the tranny off the motorcycle and just ran a chain from the sprocket on the motorcycle engine to the sprocket on the front drive shaft of the track. It works pretty well - but it's a little odd to rid next to him and hear him shift!

I'm not sure how you'd fit a V8 and tranny in the front of your El Tigre, but it may be something to think about.

You Need To Find A Trans For One Of The Boss Hog V8 Bikes. Very Compact And Automatic. Using Stock Clutch Setup Dont Sound Safe

I changed my mind. Im gonna get a 4 cyl honda crx or mopar neon motor since they are turned sideways for the trans to adapt to it. Thats something Im gonna look at now and might help a little better

Are you sure you know what you are talking about?

A transverse 4 cyl. would be way better than a v-8 and prolly very doable,, It sounds like you have the knowledge,, I hope ya have the resourses, and the time, to do something like this....... one of those SRT turbo dodge motors would be wicked straight line fast!!!!:wow: good luck!!!

I think you should stick with the small block. The engine does not care how it is oriented in the vehicle. Why not use an Aurora or Northstar engine as these are aluminum and much lighter. Best spend some time reinforcing that chassis whatever you end up with. I bet you could find an inline four cylinder from a street bike that would actually fit in the chassis. Guys are banging up those crotch rockets all the time, probably find a wrecked one for cheap.

Okay, point taken. Two question's. How's that thing in the trails? Where's the cooling system? Just because you can doesn't mean you should. But if you do,... can I take it for a spin?
