We end up taking out the plugs and pouring in gas to get it going. Runs fine if you can ever get it started. Any ideas?

Well, you have to get your carbs ALL synchronized, presuming, they are all clean, straight up and down,, all the main jets are the same,,, also your chokes , idle speed screws, and air screws,,, and while your doing that, ya hafta keep your magnetic switches right, or sled will not start, ( plugs will not fire safety switches) and if ya have good compression, walla!!! good luck lets know!!:lookaround:

I had the same type of problem with my 96 800 zrt, sometimes it would start some days it wouldn't. Then when it did start it ran great until I shut it off then it was almost impossible to start it again for a few days. It was losing spark, so I decided to try a new stator, now it starts first pull even on the coldest days. I still have to pull the plugs the day after a 100 mile ride but i dont have to add fuel anymore just pull it a few times to loosen it up, put the plugs back in and it's showtime. May not be the same situation you are experiencing but it maybe something to check out.
