My 1997 Polaris Indy 440 L/C has only 1200 Km and in very good shape. I purchased it not to long ago. I have 2 things I'm trying to figure out. 1. It starts very well but has sluggish poor performance at low speeds. I have check the jetting guide for altitude etc. and I have 250 main jets as per the guide. Lots of power at higher speeds. Temperature outside seems to have little effect. 2. I left the gas shut off on for the weekend and fuel was draining into the cylinders flooding the machcine. When I tried to start it fuel was pouring out the exhaust. If I turn the fuel line valve off this solves the problem. Do I require to do this everytime ? Anyone have some ideas what to check or could be the problems ?

Definatley check your float level. If fuel just runs into the crankcase all the time, your floats are not shutting off like they should and your overflow could be plugged. If I were you, I would clean the carbs and check the float level. The bogging could be blockage around the air screw or pilot jet. If you still have a problem, richen the pilot jet or just turn in the air screws. See if it improves. If not, try leaner. I would try rich first because lean conditions are bad news. Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

i am in the habit of turning the fuel off everytime the sled is in the garage or being trailered. i find that if polaris installed the valve on the sled then it should be used.and that is my 2 cents.

I agree. Turning fuel off is a good thing, esspecially when trailoring, but it still shouldn't leak when it's just sitting there. I would still check all the things in my previous post to see if anything is wrong.
