My 89 exciter was engaging at only 2600 rpms so I pulled the secondary to see where the spring was set. When I pulled it there was hardly any spring tension and the spring was in A and 1, not B and 2. So I put the spring in the right holes, but I'm not sure how to preload it. Can anyone give me a step by step of how to do this? I know it's supposed to be 50 degrees counter clockwise, but thats about it. Thanks

When it is just sitting there with no tension take note of where the helix ramps are sitting in relation to the secondary buttons. Before the helix is pushed down all the way rotate the clutch sheaves so that the ramp goes past the secondary button. That will give you the proper preload. This will make sense when you do it.

I'm putting my bibs on now. Thanks a lot for the advice. I've seen you on here before, your input on not just my problems, but others as well, have helped a person who knows just enough to get himself in trouble (aka, me) tons. Thanks again
