Got the MSN 8 update in the mail, did not install it yet.

1.How is it so far?
2.Does it effect e-mail in any way?
3. Will it remeber all the e-mail addresses and online contacts?
4.How long to install with dail up?

Just want to know what to expect before I install it.

Thanks :D

I find it funny that there wasn't a MSN 7, nor 6, nor 5..... Did they have to catch up with AOL or something? I don't get it........either way since I use Aol I have not upgraded anything MSN-wise besides their messenger.

That' s right, the 8 is merely for marketing. Most ignormi would think that an "AOL 8" is far more advanced than an "MSN 6", so satan just went ahead and jumped up to msn8. Similar thing with AMD processors--a 1.55 AMD out-performs a 1.8 Pentium. So instead of labelling them by MHz like Intel does, AMD uses the confusing 1800+, 2100, etc.

I went with MSN when I bought my new computer. About two months ago.

I just checked the version I have, its: 7.02.0005.2201

I use to use MSN about a year ago until they started forcing me to use their email program. I dropped them an haven't looked back since :D

From what I'm told MSN 8 has a new and improved browser with some new features. Non MSN users can use this browser, but have to pay for the upgraded version ???

I hope this helps!

I'm still under the 90 day free thingy with MSN. Been trying to default my my e-mail to Outlook Express, but have had no sucess. My next step was to get online help at MSN.

Are you saying with MSN I have to use that Hotmail crap? It sucks.

If so, I'm going to switch also.

I upgraded to the new messenger but thats it. The messenger looks different thats about it. I won't touch a browser labeled under the MSN name. I know that microsoft makes IE but have never had anything but trouble with the MSN browsers. Tell me what you think of the whole package if you get it.

I think you can still use outlook, you'd just have to configure it. I do not like to use outlook because every single email virus on the internet is specifically written for outlook! All of the people who create viruses really hate MS so the easiest way for them to affect MS users is to get in through their email. I use this program instead

In my opinnion its actually better than outlook and you don't have to worry about those nasty viruses getting into your mail boxes and spreading the virus to your friends!

I know some people were asking about MSN 8 and saying that there was no MSN 7, ect, ect. Actually today I was thumbing through some old software I have laying around and I found an MSN 7 disk LOL.
I guess that solves the mystery.
