I need to extend the wires for the head temp gauge for use in a custom application. Can this be done without losing accuracy?

The gauge has leads for both cylinders, and they attach at the spark plugs.

Also, how hot can these engines safely run? I have spent a lot of time searching and all I found was around 350*F in an ultralight plane. Does this sound right?
