Just bought a 1989 Exciter II. Was told it has been setting for several years. Has less than 1200 miles. It will start and idle,(has freash gas) however the TORS light comes on (dont know what it is, assume some kind of rev-governor). Removed carbs and cleaned. Did not see any fuel filters so installed inline fuel filters, one on each carb fuel line due to concern with sediment in the fuel system. Not much better, TORS engages and restricts rpm. I was told the TORS was a problem on these sleds and could be disconnected. I'm in Colorado 5000-9000 feet, I think the sled came from Montana. Possible jetting problem? Any advise
Thanks

If the TORS light is coming on you have to fix that. It's Throttle OverRide System and that is your problem. It's a system built into the throttle that keeps the sled from running away if the throttle cable gets stuck. If you're lucky it's just the throttle cable tension is too loose. I've never had a serious problem with this so if your throttle cable tension is right I don't know how to disable the system, but I bet if you search this board you will find an old post that explains how to do it.

That would be that the cable is to tight,,,,, you need a little free play....... You should be able to bypass by unplugging the two connectors and plug the two into themselves......
