I am currently looking at two different sleds and debating on which one to buy. The first one is a 1997 arctic cat ext 580 efi with about 4100 miles, the asking price is $850. The second sled is a 1996 polaris xcr 600 with handelbar risers and just over 4000 miles, asking price is $950. Both sled are in excellent shape. Just wondering wich sled would be a better buy considering reliability and perfomance.

Personally I would say the Polaris. It already has highrisers if you are wanting them. Then you need to decide if you want carb or efi. Personally I would rather have carb, but its whatever you prefer......
If you can't decide in the end go for the cheaper price......

Both have ther fans like chevy vs ford
From a maintenance view point I do like the polaris just because they seem easyer to work on.
The Polaris snowmobiles least the ones Im accointed with have greasable shaft bearings vs the Arctic cats sealed bearings.
Kinda nice to give them bearings a squirt every 250 miles.
