I heard from a autobody guy that welding can fry the electronics??/ I need the bumper welded but do not want to remove the rivets to take it off Anybody have any experience with this??

Remove the bumper. Why take the chance?

or easier yet, just unplug the cdi box. this would be the simplest and safest method to safeguard against any arcing.
