Hello every one. I have a 87 480 phazer.. Im having some problems when i get in to the high country.. 6,000 to 10,000 ft.. it runs great at 5,000 ft.. as far as i know the carbs are Mikuni stock.. i guess i need to rejet them for higher altitudes. can some one refer me to a web site on how to do this ??
Thanks
Dave
Remove the airbox. If I remember right that is a bit of a pain. There is a 10mm bolt up at the top you have to take out. Anyway once you get the airbox out remove the carbs by loosening the clamps on the rubber intake carb boots. Both carbs come off together. You may have to remove the fuel lines from the carbs too in order to remove the carbs. If you remove the fuel lines have a golf tee or something handy to plug them because there is no fuel shut off for them. Once you have them off then invert them and remove the nut on the bottom of the float bowl. The main jet is situated in the bolt. Be careful with the rubber o-ring between the float bowl cover and the carb body when you put everything back together.
