02 Edge 700. I put new belows and springs in the exhaust valves, put in a TEAM bright yellow primary spring and 60 gram weights, cleaned the secondary out. Pulls hard and holds at 8300RPM's full throttle all the way down the field.
I came off a 2 foot bump and stood it up 12 o clock. Seems to be running very strong I was just wondering about the RPM's.
Is this new spring holding at 8300RPM's because its the optimal RPM?
Also the top sprocket in the chaincase is at 22 teeth, stock is 25. Will I enjoy it better with stock gearing? It tops out at 85-90MPH. I like climbing with it. I currently have a 136" track with 2" paddles.

The weights are what give you the most limit to RPM. If you can hold 8300 and it's not bogging at that RPM, I don't know if I would change anything. SLP says that the stock sled makes the most power at about 8200, and the dyno chart falls off a bunch after that. But if yours is running like a scalded dog, I wouldn't touch a thing. The stock weights were 10-62's so going to 10-60's will allow the engine to rev a bit higher.
If you go to the stock gearing, I'm betting you lose a bunch of low end performance. The stock gears are designed for the 121" track, going to a longer track usually means changing gears. If top speed isn't important (and it usually isn't in a climbing sled) then stick with the gears you have... you will appreciate the low end grunt a lot more!

Sounds good! Thanx for the speedy response! I appreciate it.

So i switched back to stock gearing today and went for a ride. Still has same top speed. Dosn't feel that much different in low end power. I also noticed its overly hard to open the secondary clutch when taking on/off the belt. Is that secondary maybe not opening all the way?

What number is the adjuster set to? If it goes past one, it can jamb...

Okay i think i wasnt seeing things correctly the first time i rode it after changing back to stock gearing. Stock gearing i get 70mph thats it! With 22 tooth top gear i got 85-90MPH and more bottom end. This dosnt seem like it should be going this way, if anything it should be opposite. Does it just not have the power with stock gears to pull that heavy longer paddle track up to speed? God i'm sick of screwing around with stuff and just want to ride it!

Well after some serious thinking and question asking i've came up with the answer. Stock gearing cannot be used when putting on a longer track with taller lugs. Why? Because the rotating circumfrence is now bigger so yes it doesn't have the power to bring the sled up to speed. It's the same idea if you put bigger wheels and tires on a truck, the truck will be a dog unless you change the differential gearing.
By me putting on a longer, deeper lugged track, i essentially changed the final drive gear ratio. So by gearing it down three teeth it pretty much is like having stock gearing right now. Thanks for the input and the reads.

Don't you love it when you solve your own problems? :)
Along with the circumference changes, you also have a LOT more rotating mass, and the engine just can't pull it at the speeds you had before. The gearing keeps the engine in the powerband. You lose a bit of top speed but gain the low end torque needed to turn that bigger track.
