I have a 95 Mach 1 670 and the pull start is impossible to pull when it sits over night or whenever it has been riden, it's even difficult after it's been riden. So I heard of a modification to change the gearing on it so it pulls easier. If anyone knows of this or why it's such a bear to pull I'd love some insight. Side note I pulled plugs out and still a pain so I dropped some gas in and it pulled better so I know the compression is making it a little worse.

One thing to try... just before you stop for the day, flip the choke on and let the engine run. The extra gas that the enrichment circuit gives you will wash some of the oil off the cylinder walls and make compression a little less when you try to pull the engine over the next day when things are cold. The colder it is, the better this works...

I actually have the primer on it not the choke. I talked to a guy at Dockside by me and he said maybe the recoil upgrade for the 99 and up mxz's, but it didn't say 97 mxz 670 and I know mine is identical to that as far as I know.

Hmm... you can try hitting the primer a few times just before shutoff until you can locate a different recoil.. I know that Polaris had that issue with their big block 800's, the later ones had a bigger pulley in the recoil to give more leverage for easier pulling...

Yeah I think that's what this upgrade is, it's just like that, not enough leverage. Thanks a bunch on the input!!! Someone else said that the pulley and drive belt may be kicked a little.

there are 2 differnt recoils for that sled one is a big case one held on by a big clamp the smaller ones bolt to the crank case with 10mm bolts, my 97 583 has the big clamped one wich i was told was the easy pull, my 98 670 has the bolt on one and they are interchangeable you just need a bracket that bolts on where your smaller one is if thats the case,,,
