I was reading about the calibration of the new shocks that Yamaha is swapping on the '02 Vipers. It seems they had wayyyy too much dampening. A friend of mine that is an aggressive rider & weighs over 200 lbs is getting them installed. he says even at the speeds they rode at in northern Ontario & Quebec last winter, they were stiff.

Has anyone heard why they were calibrated so stiff, when the Viper isn't a ditchbanger?

I dont know but it was stiff. I thought it wold be like my sxr 700 but i was wrong. It did give the sled a very positive feel and made it feel nimble in the corners. But the exchange program was a nice touch if your not happy. KUDOS YAMAHA
