Alrite well just bought my first sled its a 1996 mxz 583 has about 3100 miles on it and i picked it up for 800 bucks. The only thing i see that it needs is clamps on the gas line. Im gona start tearin into it prolly either this weekend or next. Gime some input guys how are these anything i should know or do first. Like i said first sled and first time really tearin into one any suggestions would help a TON. Thanks

-have a look at the hifax,the is a wear line,and give the suspension a grease
-check idler wheels for bearing seisure
-check track for cracks and such and the tension
-check ski runners or carbides and give the steering a grease
-check chaincase oil level and chain tension
-do a compression test on both cylinders and record for future reference,+/- 120 psi
-change spark plugs
-if the gas smells like terpentine,remove and clean the carbs,actually i would remove and clean the carbs for sure,a burn down is imminent if there is any green mildew in the float bowl and the jets,replace do not clean jets
-check all wiring for condition
-remove and service the primary and secondary clutches,check belt for condition,and alignment and deflectiion
-check and service the brake
-check fluid levels and lights
-check exhaust for condition and leaks
-and anything else i have missed
