Looking to purchase a pipe for my '01 ZR800...SNOWMOBILE Magazine featured the pipe and springs/helix's from Speedwerx a couple months ago. *Has anyone used this particular pipe for a ZR? *If so, do you like it, hate it? *Any info would be greatly appreciated. *It's a little tough to mail someone $300-500.00 for something that you can't try first.

Thanks,
Jim

I have the speedwerx single on my 800,and it works great! Also tried a bunch of different clutching and the speedwerx kit is pretty close to what I ended up using. They say to run about 7700 rpm but mine pulls better at 7790(and faster on the gun) so I'd say it's worth the money, but I think they get most of the hp from the y-pipe(tried it with the stock pipe),but you get a couple extra mph on the top cause their pipe runs at the higher rpm's. hope this helps!!

I have the Speedwerx single pipe, clutch kit and heads on my 02 ZR 800 EFI. *It runs pretty good but I feel it has a lot more to it than what I am getting. *I called Speedwerx and they told me to gut the airbox and disconnect the ethanol wire that goes to the CDI box. *They said this will really wake it up. *I am getting ready to go try it in a little bit. *I did have my sled ran on a dyno 2 weeks ago. *I was 156 hp. *These sleds are only 140 stock.

Hey there cjt..I have the single pipe and head. *I could only get about 7300 with the clutch kit..so I've tried a lot of different things to get the RPM's close. *Seems to pull hard but I still feel I'm not getting everything out of this setup because I had to go to really really stiff secondary to raise R's to 7500-7600. *Would you mind emailing me?
I've talked with zr800guy and exchanged some setups too.
Thanks

cjt email me also and let me know what you have come up with.

I did try the process I talked about earlier and the sled really runs. *That little procedure made a big difference. *I ran it for a while, then checked the plugs. *They were fine.

Hey guy, when will you have to reconnect that ethanol wire? *Does it depend on what kind of gas you're running? *Why would Cat have it there if we can disconnect it. *Just a thought so you don't ruin something later. *

Good Luck!

If you can get the rpm's up you will gain about 4mph in 1000',check the exhaust valve cable length, that's where my problem was!!

Jim,

Speedwerx said you don't have to reconnect it if the airbox remains gutted. *You have to do it w/ the sled off. *That resets the computer. *I think the computer changes the way the fuel curve is set up. *It is compensated with the extra airflow.
