Thinking about buying a phazer for my 13 year old son...I am not familiar with Yamaha sleds much at all....First of all is this a good sled?..What problems should I look for when buying one(mid 1980s-90s)..
The Phazer II was a better sled because it had a 121 inch track as opposed to the first Phazers which had a 116. Also the steering knuckles were beefier on the Phazer II. Phazer II was built in 1990 & up.
They were good sleds with good power to weight. Very peppy and easy to throw around. I can't think of any weaknesses off hand other than the steering knuckles would get kind of sloppy but a few thin washers would fix that up. The 1993 and up had better clutches but the original ones were okay too.
I have a 91 phazer 2 and it is bulletproof. their wicked sleds.
