Hi everyone. I have a 1989 Formula MX 462 Liquid Cooled oil injected.

It has a completely rebuilt motor and i'm pretty sure i have broken it in. I have run it for about 3 hours giving it little spurts and so on.

Anyway, i was wondering what oil would be better for my sled. Castrol synthetic or AMSOIL?? I know Castrol Super Snowmobile oil is pretty good and i hear alot of ppl use AMSOIL.

What is so good about AMSOIL?? I know its probabley cheaper but is it better for ur sled than the Castrol??

Please tell me the difference between these too and which is better for my sled. Thanks

I can't tell you the difference, but I could vouch for castrol synthetic. In my o2 grand am , it has increased fuel milage by 2 in town and 4 on the hiway . In my snowmachines [97indy500-98formula500] both better on gas [2mpg] and noticeable performance gain , and cleaner runny . I have herd amsoil is good for both also. So I guess it would come down to who ever is cheaper! ??? :D But castrol is up there for quality. :)

I have no prior personal experience, but my Mentor with 25 years of hard riding and drags behind him swears by Amsoil. I'll be using it after break in. :)

I recommend Amsoil because I have been using it now for a couple of years and so have my friends..I can ship it to your door for pretty much cost..

I've been running Amsoil for 3 years now--Good stuff, Right price. I don't have any problems with carbon build up on RAVE valves. I know you don't have RAVE valves but it does show that it is clean. Amsoil synthetic is cheaper than Ski Doo petroleum base oil. I can't say about Castrol either way-I don't have any experience with it. I'm sure it's a good product though.
