I just bought a 98 zl 500. sled runs beautiful, but after my first ride i noticed oil puddled up by the exhaust pipe, down the block. I cleaned it up, rode it 10 miles and I see it has more oil there again. I found the exhaust manifold bolts were loose, so I tightened them, but havent ridden it again since. Guess I'm a bit nervous. Is this normal? Or what would cause this?

Your oil injection might need adjustment, it is normal to get a bit of oil in the y pipe.
also cheaper oil seems to leave more oil sludge in the exhaust ports.

after a good run you should burn it off.

My mate had the same problem - as mmgg suggested it was the oil injection - needed a small adjustment and the problem stopped.

A good exhaust manifold seal between the gaskets doesn't leak; a poor one does. At 50:1 oil will be present in the exhaust stream, at least until you are completely in "the groove" and that is not going to happen in only a few minutes or miles. I would not try to correct it at the oil pump.
