my new to me 1984 ss 440 runs on one cylinder.
soooo, heres what i have done;
i changed around the plug wires and still the same cylinder was'nt firing (the clutch side). changed plugs a couple times and no change. took the caps off and snipped 1/2" of wire off, then it ran on both cylinders for a couple minutes then shut er off.
pulled it out of the garage and took off on it with no power so checked it out and now other cylinder doesn't fire :cussing:

i checked all wiring i could find (w/out tearing into the stator area)
and all seems ok.

is this a CDI problem? (i am a retarded sled mechanic!!)

You might want to try new cap since it helped for a bit. then check the the stator ohms.
if it is the cdi somes they crack and get moisture in them ,, occasionally you can dry it out in the oven and reseal it.
