I ride 1/2 the time on the lake, 1/2 the time in the trails
and since I ride on a lake alot where there is sometimes ice or very
hardpack snow, I was thinking of running chisel tooth studs for good ice
traction.......or at least a 50/50 mix of trail studs and chisel tooths.
Has anyone had experience with how chisel tooth studs hold up in
the trails, or just hold up in general. Do they wear quicker than the
carbide tipped trail studs?

My buddy runs with chisel teeth in his and wore twice as quick as my sabers carbides. I believe his were from woodys, They hooked up like a ##### but they wore awfully fast.

I agree with that answer. I have a Formula III 800 stock improver and I ran 192 chisels. They hooked up great on the ice and then the wife wanted to trail ride..lol I had to replace them. They are weak as you can tell by the design of them, but they hook up on ice. I see Stud Boy has them in 5/16 size now. I'll call and see how much stronger they are and if the design is the same. If so they should work great. :cussing: :blahblah:
