Hey I gotta a 1994 Polaris Indy XLT 600 and I recently had spark issues, turned out it was the kill switch. So now I've got spark, but the pig won't start up for me. I've cleaned the carbs, new gas, new plugs, new fuel lines. Just not sure what else to do to it.. Any ideas would be nice to have. Thanks for your time!

Try putting a little gas down the cylinders - if it fires briefly then dies it is a fuel issue. If it doesn't fire probably electrical - if you have spark but it is weak it may not be sufficient.

My dad always used to say 'An engine only needs two things - fuel and spark. If you have both it's going to run.'

Have you tested the compression? If you don't have compression it won't create the vacuum required to work the fuel pump so no gas.

Is it possible the carbs weren't put together correctly? A small mistake in there can keep them from working correctly.

Other possible fuel problems: plugged filter, hole/plugged fuel line, broken pickup in tank, bad fuel pump, clogged needle/jet.

Possible electrical problems: bad switch, frozen throttle switch (many sleds have a little switch that checks throttle cable slack), bad connection somewhere, bad plug boots, bad coils, bad stator, bad cdi box, bad plugs.

Do you have a shop manual for it? Priceless if you plan on doing your own work - most times they have a troubleshooting guide to help figure out what is going on.

I have an '87 El-Tigre where all of the fuel lines have hardened with age. They now leak enough air around the connections that it hardly pulls any gas - I have to pull it over about 100 times before it will get enough gas to start (yeah I don't do that anymore - it isn't starting again until I put in new lines).

How long has it been since it was last running?

Have you tried new plugs? Sometimes when they were fouled out you can still see spark but it isn't good enough to run. My El Tigre was like that - foul out a set of plugs and they were done. I never could clean them well enough to get it to run right - it was really picky about clean plugs.

Good Luck and let us know what you find!
