Well the most likely solution is replace the tach. If the sled is running perfectly then this is the most likely solution by far. It's not a big job and you can probably find one on ebay for a reasonable price. If the sled isn't running right or if this doesn't solve the problem, you have some kind of serious electrical problem. I highly doubt it's the voltage regulator or stator, but those would be next on the list. If your headlight works properly and doesn't burn out during a day of riding, your electrical system is probably OK. If your lights blink or are unstable at higher RPM, I'd look first at the voltage regulator.
thanks, i will try to switch tachs, if i can find one..:lookaround:
BTW, i cleaned the exhaust valves (i had to pry them out) and that fixed the missing power in the machine,
but no improvement on the tach, not that i would expect that :tounge:
so, when i get my hands on another tach i will post back.
is there any measurements i can take somewhere to troubleshoot?
(i have decent skill with multimeter.)
is it possible to open the tach?(anyone have pics of a opened one for comparison?:happy
Thanks,
Frode.
