1995 Yamaha Bravo Idling problems? (Solved!)
(I put this post originally in new members)
I have a 1995 Yamaha bravo and trying to get it running for the kids. I have read thru many of the post for idling problems and found very useful. I've fully taken apart the carburetor many times now and repeatedly cleaned, blown out w/ air, replaced the float and needle, put in a new fuel pump, put in new jets. It will only idle when I feather the choke on and off. I did find that If I put my finder tip over the small air ports at the top of the carburetor (near the air fuel mix screw) it will idle just fine and then die when I remove my finger. When the engine dies (with the choke off or if I remove my finger tip from the small ports) the motor revs up a bit higher then dies like its running out of fuel. The only other way it stays running with the choke off or my finger removed is if I keep revving the throttle.
Attached are some images of the carb. It shows the small holes near the air fuel mixer. As I indicated earlier when I put my finger over the holes it will idle but die when I remove my finger. There are three holes, one to the fuel air mix and two that I believe go into the bowl...probably so air in the system has some place to get out.
My questions are when I have my finger over the small ports near the fuel air mix screw what is happening that it will keep idling?
Is putting my finger over all the holes causing the vacuum pulse from the crank case to the fuel pump to boost?
I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this and if this is a sign of a blown seal on the crank or just a bad carb.
The carb is the stock bd32-28 Keihin
Thanks,
