I got an 87 exciter with 5k miles on it for barter this past summer. I spent a couple hundred and 30-35 hours of work on it to get it going. The front and read suspension was frozen and there were a couple other small issues. I got it out this winter and it runs great. It hit 115 mph however it only get 5 miles a gallon. I'm gonna go broke trying to keep gas in it. I can forget about trail riding it because I wont make it to the next gas station. Does anyone have any advice? What should it get for mpg?
As far as I can tell its stock. It has 140 psi compression on both cylinders.
if u can hit 115 and have that high compression it may be set up different i got alot more milage on my 1990 exciter could never get 115 sounds like someone clutched and geard it and proble different jets in carbs causing this
I had a 1989 and I NEVER came CLOSE to that 115. A friend of mine had a 1990 with engine work and a pipe and he did not hit 115. If this is on the radar gun you have one FAST exciter which could be why it is hard on fuel. That tank is about 7 cdn gallons which equils about 35 miles a tank. It sounds like a fuel leak but you should have smelt that much fuel leaking. The chokes should be okay because that will bog your engine down. Another friend of mine had a 91 exciter 2 with ALOT of work done to it and he was looking for fuel after 60 miles. It sounds like a leak.
