1. Stay in school!
2. Get good grades!
3. Go to college!
4. Get a job!
5. Then go to the bank, I'm sure they'll help you.

Sorry man, but the legal age is 18 to enter into a contract. If the parental unit nixes a co-sign, then there isn't much you can do except wait and save your bux.

When I was 16 I would have loved to have a 2 year old sled with mods. Just my 2 cents.

I gotta agree, when I was 16 I didn't have a machine in the same league as your mxz600. By the way, what is it that you want to get, isn't the MXZ a pretty nice sled?

Ya, my MXZ is a GREAT sled, its just that the front suspension has to be re-built every 700 miles or so. (which is every week basically) So I want another sled to keep riding during the down time. All my money from the summer is gone........ Ive gotta job now, but doesnt pay nearly as good :(

If he has the Penski's on front they may require it. But stock shocke deffinetly need rebuilt like that if you are extremely hard on them like most young guys are. A shock and clutch's life are soley dependant apon the riders use and abuse apon it.

I no longer have the stock HPG's on. Ive got FOX clickers on the front end now. Ive heard they need to be rebuilt QUITE often :( Ive got penskes on the back, which dont need to be rebuilt for a long long time :) I think what im going to do is buy some X springs for the shocks upfront, and have the HPG's revalved stiff as hell, so when I need to rebuild my FOX ill throw the HPG on. :D

Wish i had a sled like that when i was your age. Mine was a 1974 yammaha SL338F, anyway spend the extra money on the springs or buy another pair of shocks the same as the ones you already have if you rebuild them yourself. You will still enjoy the sport without the payment. ;)

got snow??
11-23-2002, 09:18 PM
:nervous:  ??? I THINK YOU SHOULD BE HAPPY!!!! WITH WHAT YOU GOT... WHEN I WAS YOUR AGE I HAD TO BUY MY OWN CAR... AND NOW I'M 26 AND I FINALY GOT MY SLEDS. MAYBE YOU SHOULD GROW UP A LITTLE AND QUIT CRYING. I MEAN COME ON YOUR SLED IS WAY BETTER THEN MINE. YOU SHOULD LEARN TO BE HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU HAVE ... ANYWAY PRETTY IMPRESIVE THAT YOU PAY FOR YOUR OWN CAR, YOUR INSURANCE , GAS AND YOUR SLED, PLUS SLED INSURANCE !!!!! PLUS ALL THE MAINTENCE... WOW WISH I HAD A JOB LIKE YOU WHEN I WAS 16.

I lobster for during april-september. sometimes october. My dad does it year round, but Ive got my own boat, and I do it full time in the summer. Now I work at my sled dealer w/ the mechanic during some of the winter. But this summer was kinda half #####, it was my first year, so it took me a while to get started. But I do pay for everything I have.

Well, you could do like I did....
#1 graduate from school.
#2 get a job
#3 buy a car
#4 save money to buy playtoys

I NEVER borrow money for playtoys! I work side jobs to pay for 100% of my snowmobiling, sleds, trips and go fast parts.
The problem with people today is they want it all today instead of working and saving for it! This is why the country is in debt and the attitude that "oh well I cant make payments anymore, come and get it"

This is not cutting you down personally, it is just the way of life today. :(

I hate waiting  But now it looks like the only option. I think maybe FIRST its time to upgrade my front shocks.......

That's where you went wrong in the first place horsecollar! Upgrade you shocks back to hpg's. I'm an agressive trail rider myself and the hpg's always last me through a whole season. Even guys I talk to say the hpg's last longer than any of the brands, especially fox. I usually ride 2500-3000 miles a year and my shocks are fine. I jump the hell out of my sled, hell I even blew out my knee the first trip last year jumpin off a cliff in the U.P. If any thing else get the piggy back hpg's at least.

sledcrazy
11-24-2002, 12:07 PM
Well my standard HPG's bottom out like hell. How much stiffer are the X shocks w/ the piggy backs??

670HO
11-24-2002, 12:29 PM
The shocks aren't what keep the sled from bottoming.

sledcrazy
11-24-2002, 01:19 PM
What are? Well w/ my Penskes on the rear it doesnt bottom anymore. But where do I get stiff springs for the rear and the front??

Steimy
11-24-2002, 01:33 PM
There's no way a brand new or rebuilt hpg is going to just bottom out. If they are bottoming they need to be rebuilt. Maybe try adjusting the tension on your springs both front and back. When my hpg's were brand new(or rebuilt) which is like brand new the only time I've ever had them bottom out is hitting a huge dip in the trail out of nowhere at a high speed.

sledcrazy
11-24-2002, 02:03 PM
Well, my HPG's bottom out on every jump i hit. They were brand new, and they still bottomed out.

I was 220 lbs. and did not have the problems you are at 165,why is that?

sledcrazy
11-24-2002, 03:53 PM
I have no idea why. But all I know is that it bottomed like hell. Im not gonna lie about a stupid thing like that either. My question is where can I get the X springs for the front shocks.

stay in school ,either buy now and spend what you can,or save and buy something later that is better. then stay in school, get a good job, then buy what ever you want.
