I checked the compression on my (new to me ) 2000 ZRT800 and found the compression to be around 160. I was told by the owner he shaved the heads slighty to get a little more jump. Also found a purple spring (suspect not stock) in the front clutch (sorry forget the propoer name for this) during cleaning. No indication on the manfacturer of ths spring on it.

What impact will these two mods have on this sled?

I use only supreme fuel.

I really dont understand what impact this has had. I could really use some information. Even suggested reading on the whole issue of modifications would help.

WOW that's a lot of compression. *They are shaved more than jsut slightly. *Stock is 125 psi. *That would work great at 10,000 feet. *I would talk to a good engine guy about running that much at lower altitudes. *I have a set of stock heads if you are interest. *All three for $75 plus shipping. *One is a little dinged up in the dome from a blown piston, but they will work fine......Dave * Dardaves@aol.com

Fastcat800 you mentioned you have a set of stock heads. Does this mean you've went to an aftermarket head or had another set cut. Just curious. Was there a big increase in power. I've heard alot of guys having the heads cut .020" and cc'd for a nice little increase in power. They've always run supreme fuel and had good luck. I'm a little leary of this as the material goes on alot harder than it comes off.

I have never run cut heads, these are off a stock motor that blew and I am parting out.
