On the 00 MXZ 700 there were some crank bearing problems. *Make sure the oil pump was set up correctly. * Also, if there are more than 1500 miles on the sled it will probably be o.k. *I love mine. *The crank bearings were really the only issue, and normally would go before 1500 miles. *Otherwise, great sled.

like kid rocker said. *Lost my bearing in my 00 mxz700 at 1365 miles. *Other than that its been great.

My pto bearings were bad at 2600 miles... they didn't lock up but when I rebulit the topend I went a step further and checked the bearings.. good thing I did they wouldn't have made it the season.

I guess it all depends on oil pump adjustments,I bought mine used with 1600 miles on it from an awesome dealer,Rob's performance motorsports in Johnson's Creek Wi. It was probably taken care of before I bought the sled.

My 00 mxz 700blew the crank at 700 kliks and the pump was adjusted previous. My *buds 00 mxz 700 from same dealer with same recall performed is now over 7000 kms with no problems. Its a roll of the dice, lol

The bearings that were bad on mine were the pto which are greased not oiled, my mag bearings which are oil fed were fine but they got replaced also. My inner pto was the one that was cooked.. it had hardly any isoflex grease in it. the outer pto was loaded with isoflex and was fine.

Is there a way you can check the crank bearings? *How expensive is it to fix them?

dooski,
*the pto bearing by starting the sled and spraying ether at the bearing. if the idle remains then okay bearing and seal, if the idle raises then there is a problem right around then next corner.

I find Paul's witty remarks both funny and educational as for his mechanical aptitude,i expect that is up to par as there is nothing better than experience and perhaps one day i will have the privilage of clinking frosted beer mugs with mr. Yarek.
I did however laugh me arse of the first time i noticed mxz7's new signature. *http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Dont trust the ether trick.. Its a double bearing design and there is a grease retainer on the inner bearing that will act as a seal. The inner pto is the most common pto bearing to go bad. The mag bearings were going bad due to oil pump adjustment. Its a tough call on a 00 700. I would not buy a used one. There were too many piston/bearing issues imo.

I have a 00700 engine with 7000+ trouble free miles on it, but I have seen about a 30% crank bearing failure rate on the 8 or so other ones that I know of. Its a shame because its one of the best machines built imo, and they sure sold alot of them.

Never heard about these crank troubles before, does it filter down to the summit line ? i suppose same engines. I did hear problems with rings has anyone else heard that? You would think bombi would get this bearing problem fixed as the 670 had pto bearing troubles,at least quite a few around here.I did have a ring failure on my 2000 summit.
