Hi!
My Formula 500 -98 Deluxe, 4500km, is original equiped with elstart. Problem is that when turning the key, nothing, absolutely nothin happens if the engine is cold. It starts ok with the rope, and will start with the elstart when engine is warm. Il guess the right Q is: where does the current dissapear?

formula500,
*you are going to have to get out the trusty wire tester unless you are willing to spend for a repair shop.

There are a few fuses. *Check them. *There is a few by the brake and one in the front of the sled on the left side. *That might be your problem.

I would check the battery.

Sounds like a batter to me also.

Not enough juice when its cold, but warms up when running enough to start (or charges enough when running to start) but can't hold a charge of very long.

Should be able to get a load test done on the battery, it will tell you if its the problem.

Hi!
Its not the battery, because its brand new. I thought it was the battery, so i changed it, but... http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Damn,

Then its probably something more expensive. *Can you try jumping the starter, with another 12V battery. *Just touch it with live cables, and it will tell you wether the starter is working. *If its fine, then Paul is right, you need to get the tester out.

I have had a starter go, that would only work 50% of the time. *Had to be rewound.

Hope this helps.
