Hey. I was wondering if anyone has ever polished their ports in their 2 stroke snowmobile engine? Is it pretty easy to do? How much did it help? I am rebuilding my engine and was thinking of just polishing the ports? If anyone has any advice it would be appreciated. Thanks

I've ported a few engines, I use a dremel tool.
Only polish the exhaust port, watch the chrome in the port and leave it, it's worth a small gain, it will run a bit cooler in the exhaust port area. The reason you don't polish the intake and transfer ports is the roughness helps fuel atomization. The info is from dyno-tech vol. 1 #4 page 10. I also carefully remove any burrs that hang into the transfer ports from mfg process. :)

Hey Thanks Zeng62. I think I'll try that. Would I have to re-jet with the polishing? I wouldn't think so because it is just on the exhaust side not the intake. Thanks for the help.
