Hi everybody...

Just run my new Pantera 2003 800 EFI out ot the breakage got... now 750 milles on ...

Was surprised to be passed by a Renegade 600 HO.... but I realize that the engine will not rev more than 7000 RPM.... so I check for my power Valve... nothing.... no cycling after starting the engine.... strange... check the DC Motor test okay.... so it seems that the ECU is not controlling the electric motor... on the service manual they say that if there is a problem with the APV the ECU will revert to limp home mode and rev limiting... that was possibly my problem.... but now... any clew or any body got the same problem... I don't really want to play the game of many in and out on the dealer.... maintenance garage.....

Best regards ...

Feedback from a Dealer....

I have been told by a technician that APV doesn't cycle on EFI model as compare to Carburator model.... really strange.... the only way to verify the opening is to snap the throtle with the snowmobile on ice like he told me... unsual pratice should I say....

Is it the way Artic Cat are doing thing.....?????

Hi Mario,
Couple of things to check first,
1- Are the valves clean and not sticking/stuck? (if your using Cat oil I'll guarant. they are gummy/stuck-if stuck switching to Amsoil and turning down the oil pump will cure any further problems)
2- If the valves are OK have you checked the cables for adjustment?
3- Do you have a cable binding?
The service CD is vague as to the cycling procedure on the EFI's but leads you to beleive they do cycle on start up but no I can't verify one way or the other. It does however go on to say an analyzer is required to further diagnose any problems.

Hi Rick,,

Thanks for the Reply... I will have to check with a tech... because some thing doesn't fit with the service manual... a 2002 version and I run a 2003 model.. like the cable lenght.. in the book they say 1.20 inch.... the cable are presently adjust to 1.65 inch and it is impossible to get to 1.20 lack of adjustment... so ???? it is different on 2003 model I will have to check....

There is no bind and the valve are free to move....
I will install a small micro switch on the motor cam so I will see on engine test run if the valve open... still kind of mystery... talking with a tech at Artic Cat there is no way to test those with the Electronic analyzer.. so kind of a dark spot... here...

I assume you have checked that the cables have not become dislodged at either end.
Did you check in the owners manual for the cable adjustment spec?
Have you actually pulled the covers off and checked that the valves are not stuck in the open position? Its more than possible. This would account for your cables (if the 02 spec is right for the 03) not adjusting to spec.
Just tossing out some ideas just maybe one is on the right track.
Good luck.
Rick.
