I hope someone could help me out with some problems with my 99 SRX I have purchased this past summer. I have finally got a chanc eto take it out last night and hav ebarely beat a 98 XC 600 stock and 99 mxz 600 stock. They hold me for the first 500ft then I just catch up and barely beat them in the 1/4. My tach is showing I am reving to 8900 rpm which I believe is too high. I have cleaned valves, carbs prior to this. I have just taken apart my clutch to find just a bit f dirt. Weights and rollers look fine. My chain was also a bit tight(major whine) but I can't see this being the issue. I can't get past 130kph. Any ideas? Oh yeah my compression is 120 across all 3 cyl. Any help would be great. Thanks

Jamie,

Try asking for assistance at www.totallyamaha.com in the message board or the ty forum under srx. These guys can help you sort it out, you should have eaten those sleds alive.

My son has a 99 srx-700, i have 98 srx-700(wife's now) both sleds fly, top speed over 110, the 99 is a litle faster than the 98. They do lose a little off the line because of bad hooking up, small lug tracks i believe is the reason along with weight transfer, but u should be flying by those other sleds u mentioned. The srx-700 goes as quick as many 800's. Have a dealer look at it.

Does your srx have the cold air kit? If it does it should be a running a nice 8300 rpms....8900 is waayyyyy to high for this sled...the sweet spot is from 8100-8300. Thats what is recommened for the sled. I would try and get those rpms down. Give Bender racing a call. They are in Colden, New York but they know their stuff. I have been dealing with them for quite a while now. I have never been disappointed with them. They will tell you what to look for and how to fix it. The number is (1)716-941-5010. I hope this helps ya out.

It could be your rear suspension adjustment. I was getting beat by 600's when I bought mine so I pulled the skid and did some tweeking, and it made a pretty big difference. If your catching them on the top end then that might mean that your having a problem hooking up and the suspension adjustments will help this. I have 192 studs and my front spring is at 7.5 inches (from colar to colar) the rear is at 12.5 and the limiter strap is all the way out. try that for starters. Another tip is do not open it up off the line. These sleds have a nasty throttle response and will cut loose big time if you give it too much too early. Roll into the throttle smoothly as opposed to just mashing it. A few other suggestions would be bender transfer rods, and a bender clutch kit.

When you say they're all the way out are you saying that they're loosened as far as you can....or you tightened them up all the way?

I thought that you were supposed to tighten them...let me know so I can fix it if it's wrong :withstupid: SWRules

2002mxzx, yeah I am from New York....I am from the Buffalo area....Actually I live in a little town outside of Six Flags Darien Lake called Alden.......Maybe ill catch up with ya sometime.

The limiter strap adjustments are like this: looser= more ski lift off the line...tighter=less ski lift. A good investment for the rear suspesion would be a hi-fax wheel saver kit. The front of the hi-fax on our srx's wear out rather quickly in minimal amounts of snow. Also a set of quick adjust transfer rods are good too. Set up the suspension for your weight and your good to go. With the right jetting and clutching this sled is nearly unstoppable. Good luck.

Thanks.....I'll go and loosen them up tomorrow after work...and I'll let you know if I noticed a difference SWRules

I already have 192 woody's and Benders clutch kit. I plan on buying those transfer rods from Bender right after x-mas :hallo1:
