Are there any laws in MI prohibiting tinted bulbs (yellow specifically)?

Do tinted bulbs help visibility at all? I was told that they help you see bumps in the trail more easily.

I had a gold bulb (100/80W) on my 670. It was great..bright and the gold tint helps you see through the snow dust-- doesn't reflect back like blue.

I would think that any limitation would only apply to street driven vehicles. Good question, though.

I have a headlight cover on my sled, and the only problem I have is when a sled without a cover or tinted bulb is right behind me at night my own shadow shows up real bad and it's hard to read the trail bumps.

I dont believe there are any laws against them here in Michigan, I have headlight covers on both of my sleds. I use my yellow covers at night on bright and they work fine for me.(still bright)
During the day on my 800 I run red covers which look awesome.
I read a test in one of the magazines recently that tested aftermarket headlight bulbs and the stock Ski Doo bulbs out performed the aftermarket bulbs. Just for your info on the bulbs. But they werent testing for seeing bumps just for distance you could see. For seeing bumps better you could try wearing a snowcross helmet and different goggles tints. Blue works well.

They are technically illegal, but it is never really enforced unless it is an obvious safety hazard.

I read that article with the lightbulb comparison, I was surprised by the results.

The reason I brought the tinted bulbs up is because I bought a used sled with the tinted bulbs installed. The previous owner made it sound like replacing them is a hassle so I don't want to put the clear back in if it isn't necessary. I think I'll leave them in and try my luck.
