With talk about a revival of now-defunct machines. Which ones do you think would stand the best chance and make a great sled?

J.D. for sure. Back in the years they made these sleds in Horicon Wisconsin. Only a half hour from my place.

Around here the J.D. was king, that is all that you saw back then.

With my first sled being a '78 JD Liquifire, I would have to say JD. But I do remember as a kid thinking my buddy's dads Kawa's were awesome sleds....I remember the StarWars-like posters of the Invader...those were cool sleds.

In my thirty years of snowmobiling I cannot think of any old sled I would want to see return.
The sleds of the 70's were basically usless, such as; they got stuck in 6" of snow, small 5 gal. gas tanks, no power compared to todays sleds, 50-60 miles per hour down hill was tops and un-reliable.

If not for these sleds though, we would not have what we have today.

The 80's were a lot better but still nothing there I miss today.
The 90's is where all the manufactures started getting it together and made a fast, reliable, good handling, good riding snowmobile!
Today you cant go wrong with any sled, any brand, just a preference thing.
Would I trade my 800 triple triple for any old sled of the 60's, 70's, 80's or even 90's? Not for all the old iron in the world!

Chaparral with 650 Hirth was my first real "muscle" sled
'Hafta wonder if I'd be as impressed today as I was then...

Speedway triples were kind of neat also. 800 "King Cat"
anyone?

The company with the most money and best chance to survive the big 4 could only be Kawasaki. John deere really only sold there sleds as a gimmick to get people to buy there tractors. My uncle got a brand new tractor in 74 and they gave him a brand new sled with the deal! :p

What's the difference between a Moto-Ski and Ski-Doo except the colors and graphics?
