The Arctic Cat website shows a ZR in the background. *I'll bet they announce that all the new ZR's will be in the new chassis.

Big deal.

Let's hope it's something a little less predictable and lot more exciting.

Hmmm. 03 ZR's in the new chassis? Perhaps. Maybe an aforementioned Suzuki GSXR1000 4-stroker in the new chassis? that'd be cool. All this competition heating up between the big 4 is awesome. never seen so much new ideas being thrown around. goodie goodie for us! Whatever it is, needless to say it's gonna kick a$$!!!

Cat likes to be at the top of the displacement--read horsepower ladder. *They need a derivative of the GSX1300R Hayabusa engine. *Those things put out 170-175 at the CRANK and about 160 at the back wheel on a bike. *Doesn't rely on big revs to make power either. *Probably a bit heavier than a Gixxer 1000, but I'm sure they could deal with it. *New 1300 ThunderCat?? *Yeah, baby!! *

Getting off the sled subject, do not most bikes lose about 30 or so horsepower when measured at the back wheel, on the rolling tire dynos Ive seen they do? My engine hp was 125 and it only put out a little over 90 on wheel dyno at Humboldt cycle rally July 4th in Iowa a few years back.

Well, if that's the case, one of two things has happened as far as the GSX1300R is concerned. Suzuki is lying about their crank horsepower, or about a zillion owners are lying about their RWHP. You choose. *Being the devil's advocate, I'll tell you that about the lowest I've seen is about 150-52 on the 1300, that still doesn't come close to your 30 HP loss. *Maybe you didn't really start out with 125. Tired engine??

Hookman is right. *You will lose a fair amount of hp from the engine to the ground, but I haven't seen/heard of a 30 hp loss. You also have to realize that every dyno is different and you may have not started out with 125 "actualy" hp from the engine itself to begin with....

I'M HOPING FOR A HIGHER OUTPUT 4-STROKER!! *TO KEEP THE TREE HUGGERS HAPPY.

Hookman you just came up with a 25 horse difference yourself now from 175 down to 150, the tire has some grip loss you know, and No my bike was not tired! The harleys there could not break over 70 rear wheel horse power with there mods. That was not the new biggest Harley now available. http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I was using the 150 number as the bottom end of the stock range. *Many guys are in the 155-160 horsepower range stock. Different dyno will yield different numbers though. *They'll be getting numbers off the crank when they're used in the sleds. *One thing is certain, a Suzuki 1300 will and does make much more power than a 1000 Yamaha or 1000 Suzuki. Hey, just food for thought. *Cat seems to always have the biggest engine. *Why would anything change when the 4 strokes get here??

Cheers, Mark

Absolutely! I have heard from Cat factory, that Suzuki has a 1400 even, waiting for production if they needed to out displace someone. That was more than 3 years ago, but was a two stroke. http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Bikes dont lose more than 10% at the rear wheel, I got a modded zx11 that pulls down 149 still slight compared to a new busa, so much technology out there.
