??? Ok everybody , do you have any ideas what this could be? From a standing stop and you give it full wack, and this is what happens , the zr500 hits at 6500rpm then 2-3 seconds later, she then goes to 8600 rpm. The remedy in the manual says to bring belt deflexion up to 1/16 over the top of the secondary clutch, so this is what I did taking 2 washers out of the clutch. Now its not as bad but it is doing what I describe. My question is this, can this be from primary clutch spring worn out abit? And also , can this be the secondary clutch spring not being so hot either? Its got a yellow- white primary with yellow secondary. When I brought it to the dealer , I got them to take the primary clutch off to change the bushings and bolts that hold the weights in place, and the artic guy showed me the weights and they had a little ware on them but he told me that there still alright to use, could that be the problem? ??? :0:

First of all are you idling it up to right before engagement or are you pegging it from dead idle?

It might be time to replace the pins and bushings in the weights if he thought they were wore he should have done it right away cause you can get by with $5 bushings instead of $40 weights. If you had to take two washers out the belt might be wore to far. It defenetly sounds like something in the clutching.

Could be your timing sensor, sort of sounds like it. Coming out of the stator there is a small two wire plug. Make sure you are getting good contact. I seen this before, the vibration over time cause the plug to be loose or a wire slips out.

Something to look at...

Is this sled EFI? Another possible solution could be your TPS is out of wack. Requires a visit to the dealer.

A worn clutch can also cause a similar problem, how many miles since the last clutch rebuild?
