I am new to flying. I have always ridden hard and fast but on a Viper or similar, getting in the air on “normal” trails doesn’t happen all that often…

Well the REV sure gets air and man its a RUSH!, but I am not exactly sure how to handle it.

Now I don't want to be no hot shot sno-crosser, just want to navigate the high spots in the trail without having to slow down...

Here is my problem, when I get airborne the back of the sled tips down, how do I keep the sled close to level while flying (well a little like the hot shot sno-crossers...)

I think I may be letting up on the throttle close to the lip (probably a bit scared) but this thing is so stable I think I can get the hang of it...

If anyone is willing to share some flying lessons I would appreciate it! I'm sure there are a lot of new REV guys wondering or dealing with the same thing.

I may have watched the SD promo video a few to many hundred times this summer... recently I was caught signing my name Blair… :p

Just shift your weight, also brakeing in the air can help bring the nose down just make sure you letoff before you land or it could be rough.

It's the same as a dirt bike. If you hit the brake and stop the track, it will nose down. If you rev it, centrifigal force will make the sled act as if the rear is heavier and will pull the rear down.

It's no where near as much help on a sled as it is on the bike, too much linear movement compared to a tire on a bike.

Trappers is right on. And if you want big air push down on your machine when you are coming into the lip of the jump. When you come off the jump your suspension will un-load and help spring off.

tap the brakes or dont hit the gas let off b4 you hit the jump and you can lean in to the jump and shift your body forward good luck.. dont hit the moon to hard

andw1 is correct that it's not as much as on a bike, but just the same, it works for me.

Viper ER2------BE CARFULE!!! we don't wanna be reading about you in the paper!

TIMING,TIMING,TIMING, I HIT THE GAS ON THE LIP WHICH SENDS THE SLED OFF FLAT WITH BOTH FEET PLANTED.

Oh...by the way, did I mention that the only reason I have a REV is because I flew my 02' MXZ-8 off a cliff (hey...I thought it was a jump!) and tail landed it?
(crumple up a piece of paper and you'll have an idea what it looked like after)!

So all those neet & tricky ideas only work:

1) If your ready for it.

2) If you don't ride off a cliff.

oh I will be careful... very careful !!

but thanks for the warning!

i'm not crazy and will do it within reason, like I said b4 I really never was able to get much air, just looks like it will be a lot of fun on the REV and I think the X can take it... in any case I'm only talking a couple of feet beneath my track...

Maybe next year I will joing the high-flyers club! :D

Again thanks for the info!

To all - Have a great Holiday! And ride safe!

(BTW - I ride on tug hill and they are getting slammed with snow as I write this with a foot of new on the ground from last night!, so I got what I asked Santa for, how about you?)

Another way of doing this is to sit down as you are approaching the lip of the jump, then as you hit the lip, pop up in a forward motion.

Sitting down will load the suspension.

This takes some practice to get the timing right but once you get it right you will see what I mean.

good luck, and get some photos for us.
