Nice pic OMOTM, How is that rx for sidie hilling in the mountains, I have been driving a rx1 here in the flatland. A few times I tried turning around on a hill, it caught me off guard and I thought I was gonna loose it, and w/ my mxz I can almost stop sideways and continue down the hill, its a rx1 is a awsome trail sled but I dont think its really made for the deep and steep with the xtra weight. JMO I could be wrong.

OMOTM
01-12-2003, 11:26 PM
Heavy, your assessment is correct. The best upgrade for powder you can do is a pair of Simmons Ski's. They improve the handling of the RX1 in the powder a hundred per cent.

I'll second that. Simmons made a world of difference on my sled. They float a lot better in the deep stuff and they soak up the bumps of the trail.

I was going up a hill, trying to do a backflip and land on my feet. I could not get the right speed to do it to let me push off and backflip. Snow was too deep and slowed the sled down too much last second...

...so I figured this would be a good time to GHOSTRIDE! he he he :D

polaris has to be smarter than that ! don't they? i think it is a fake. they are really going to throw everyone off with one picture, or get everyone fired up. remember the 97 700 rmk, at the show it had a lot of stuff that ended up changing later. how long of a track? i think it will be a 165" x 16" x 2.5" huge! also i almost know for sure that all of the manufacturers don't want to make a real 4-stroke mountain sled for at least 5 years. they are all looking into the direct injection thing because it is cheaper to biuld and it really will be better than any 4-stroke. lighter, more power cheaper to fix, more reliable, and the best is that it is a lot cleaner burning than a normal carb or efi.
turbo? no!
will polaris biuld a true 900? or a 862. i hear that the 900 is the baby brother of the 1050! polaris does have a new drive system and that is going to be the biggest part of the 05. i don't know exactly but i think it will have no chaincase and it will be much simpler than the diamond. also these sleds aren't going to be liberty looking engine equiped. the motor will be positioned different in the totally new bulkhead. one more thing, the rmk will be in the neighborhood of 450 lbs.
price? only a guess but with all that is new i'll say that the 1050 with the big track is over 12,000. (1050 twin that is)
i know that the others aren't sittin' around shaking in their boots. they have known for years that polaris was up to something(especially after the edge came out and really is about the same as the old indy). ac can easily put out a 1000 plus twin and i know that they have the direct inj. in the works. doo already has the rev which was an early move against polaris(most buyers don't buy every year). yami ? ....... who knows if they keep shooting themselves in the foot they might have to quit biulding selds.
the future will prove that mountain sleds will look different and actually be built different too! manufacturers are tooling up to do it and it will be great for everyone.

you didnt trade in the blue one already did you??

rmkman
02-01-2004, 03:37 AM
That is a nice looking sled but I think I like the looks of the blue one better. Did you notice anything different on the new one compared to the old one? A bunch of the magazines say the new liberty engine didnt hav as much HP as previous years when they dyno tested it.

Doc,
I am confused who did you give yer sled too? The wife?
Wayne

docrmk
02-01-2004, 09:41 PM
The blue one is going to the wife.when I can keep her off the escape. The escape is lighter it don't feel as strong but it runs ski to ski with the blue one already. It all depends what one gets the jump. But the escape feels lighter when you throw it around. It is a pretty nice trailer full now.
