: Pipe differences
maluchm 02-15-2002, 08:29 AM Hey, I was wondering if any body knows if there is a big
difference betwene the Dynoport and the Crank shop pipes for
the CK3 chassis Mach 1 and the FIII 700. I had a very
reliable source mention to me that somehow they were
connected to each other or even making pipes for each other.
Has anybody heard this or know anything about it. There's
not a big difference betwene the two pipes is there?
I'm getting a set of the Dynoport for my FIII 700 and the
guys at Dynoport told me I should spin em at 8800 to 8900.
Is that the same RPM's that the Crank shop would spin at?
folgers 02-15-2002, 09:18 AM crank shop = ski doo
dynoport = cat=polaras=yamaha=ski doo ect
not much help but i personaly would stick to crank shop i know far a fact lanny benoint runs cranks!!
maluchm 02-15-2002, 09:30 AM Crank shop also does work on Polaris sleds and I'm not
completly sure but I don't think that Dynoport has much
for AC.
The way I see it is the Crank shop IS the SkiDoo performance
shop but Dynoport works a lot with em too.
I just had somebody tell me that the pipes for my sled from
either manufacture were the same. I'm wondering if anybody
will agree with this or say no and why.
Allen Avram 02-15-2002, 09:43 AM Does anyone have a phone number to crankshop, I can't seem to find them except thru a Dealer....Thanks Al
maluchm 02-15-2002, 10:09 AM I think it's 802-878-3615 but not positive because I'm
looking at a post-it note (one of many!http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif stuffed in my desk
here at work and my catalog is at home. The guy you want to
talk to (Kurt?) is easier to get a hold of after lunch. If
not call information. There located in Essex VT. *http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Allen Avram 02-15-2002, 10:40 AM Thanks Maluchm...Al
idooski 02-15-2002, 10:43 AM Personally, I like Crankshop pipes. *I didn't find the voice #, but here is the Fax #802-878-9606
idooski 02-15-2002, 10:44 AM I found it. Maluchm was right.
maluchm 02-15-2002, 10:52 AM I guess my post-it note collection/filing structure method
does work. lol
idooski - Have you tried any Dynoport pipes or have others
left a bad taste in your mounth for them. I was leaning
toward one of the two for my FIII so I could DUMP the 98
center dump pipes that I have on now. I was told that PSI
were junk for this sled and wasn't too much in a hurry to
buy Jawz pipes. Besides $300 for a brand new set (Dynoport)
still in the packing w/silencer, I couldn't pass it up.
saves me about 400 big ones! *http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
idooski 02-15-2002, 10:56 AM I just knew some one that had a problem with them (they broke) and couldn't get any where with customer service. *I have PSI's on my Mach1. Helped a lot.
maluchm 02-15-2002, 11:04 AM Your Mach 1 is a 98 also isn't it?
OK, Chuck told me PSI was junk and that there was some
connection betwene Dynoport and The Crank Shop. Something
about building pipes together. I thought that Tim was
running all three of them (Crank shop, Dynoport & PSI)
within his triple/triple filled barn. I'm sure there will
be an improvement from the stock center dump to the Dynoport
but not sure if there's more to gain going to Crank shop
pipes. Where do you spin the PSI pipes at?
Thanks for the input!
maluchm 02-15-2002, 11:12 AM But then again I had some one who's been into sleds for a
long time tell me that The Crank Shop is also junk too so
I guess you just got to take it for what it's worth
depending on where it's coming from!!! Somebody experienced
and good or just Joe Shmoe that bought something and it
didn't work out for him.
folgers 02-15-2002, 12:41 PM lany benoint one of the top in my mind rotax guys runs cranks i think that speaks for itself!
98 mach 1 call cullys ranch lancaster mass and ask for 3 d raceing john dumas he has a nice set up for that sled!!and i bet he has crank shops for that sled!
MidMich800twin 02-15-2002, 03:37 PM I was going to have a big bore kit put together from benoit racing for my '98 Mach 1 and Landon(I think its larry or lany's kid or vice versa) told me that they were going to give me dyno port pipes for the big bore. He said they worked well. Not sure why but I always thought the benoits and the crank shop were kinda connected.
I know larry designed them goofy *DAID carbs and the crank shop made them.

maluchm 02-15-2002, 06:04 PM Anybody running Dynoport or Crank shop pipes on a FIII 700 or
a Mach 1? How do you like the pipes? *http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
kid rocker 02-16-2002, 07:21 AM I have a friend that runs dynoport pipes on his 98 FIII 700 and they work very well. *Rich Daly knows what he is doing. * I have never had a set of crankshop triple pipes, but like you said, Tim does. *The big name racers are going to have "custom" made pipes for their sleds. * The ones that have the money get the best. *Off the self, *I think they are very compatable. * I have heard crankshops are the best. * I don't have first hand information on that one. * I had a set of PSI pipes on my 2000 Mach Z that really woke that sled up. *It was a runner. *The guy that runs the dynoports sled "rocks" *hope this helps.
headgasket 02-16-2002, 06:37 PM kid rocker is right, the guys who have the most money have the custom made pipes.
